Woodstock School of Art, in collaboration with Emerge Gallery & Art Space, is pleased to host an interview with Color Field and abstract artist Peter Bradley on Sunday, May 19, 2019, 2 PM. The discussion is a preview to the exhibition Peter Bradley: New Work to be held at Emerge Gallery in Saugerties, NY, June 1-30, 2019.

Artist and independent curator Ellen Martin will discuss with Peter Bradley his work and career that spanned over fifty years. Points of discussion will include curating the first major show in the US to comprehensively integrate white modernists with their black contemporaries; his work as New York’s original black art dealer — Associate Director at the prestigious Perls Gallery on Madison Ave where he sold Calders, Picassos and other 20th century modern masters; his time spent in South Africa in the 1980s responding to apartheid through sculpture; the importance of music and art; and Bradley’s love for Golden Paints, among other topics. The interview will be followed by an audience Q&A.

Peter Bradley’s work is in the permanent collections of a number of galleries and museums, including The Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Fine Art in Houston, The New York City Museum of Art, African American Museum in Dallas, The Fogg Museum at Harvard University, and Johannesburg Art Foundation in South Africa. In 2017 Bradley completed an Artist in Residence at the Squire Foundation.
