Event Description:
Film Screening: The Best Democracy Money Can Buy: A Tale of Billionaires and Ballot Bandits, by Greg Palast. Hosted by investigative reporter Karen Charman.

Rolling Stone and BBC investigative reporter Greg Palast broke the story of Jeb Bush’s involvement in the purging of Black voters from Florida’s electoral rolls in the 2000 Presidential election. In Palast’s new documentary, The Best Democracy Money Can Buy: A Tale of Billionaires and Ballot Bandits, the filmmaker exposes Republicans’ tactics in the November 2016 election, including Crosscheck, a secret purge list accusing 7.2 million mostly minority people (likely Democratic voters) of being registered to vote in more than one state.

This real-life detective story is told in a film noir style with cartoon animations, secret documents, and hidden cameras.
